Famed artist Mark McGowan is marking World Food Day on 16^th October in support of Action Against Hunger in an extraordinary performance. He will ride a tiny child’s bicycle covered head-to-toe in peanut butter on a gruelling 24-hour journey around London.

His efforts aim to raise awareness on a new life-saving peanut-based treatment for children at risk of dying of hunger.

“As a father, and socially conscious artist, I want to create awareness on how it is unacceptable that 19 million children worldwide face life-threatening hunger, even though treatment is known.”

McGowan hopes his performance will increase public and political commitment to scale-up the treatment and prevention of child hunger in developing countries. He will start his journey at 10am on October 15^th 2009 at Downing Street and will circumnavigate London, ending in Greenwich on World Food Day - October 16^th 2009.
